This is the biography of the Newlyn Art Gallery in Cornwall, over its first 100 years. A survey collection of documents and images are reprinted from the historical archive, encompassing artistic activities in Newlyn and West Cornwall over the period 1895-1995. The book draws together into decades, some of the many reminiscences, correspondence, newscuttings, programme notes, photographs, illustrations, and critical reviews from the time of the early "Newlyn School" through to the diverse arts of the present day.

The illustrations include facsimiles of original engravings, letters, and posters in addition to photographs, old and new.
