which was a finalist for the 2020 American Fiction Awards for Children’s
Fiction and a silver medalist for the 2020 Wishing Shelf Book Awards for Ages
6-8, and When My Cousins Come to Town, which was a silver medalist for the 2022 Irma Black Award and was on NYPL’s
Best Books for Kids 2021. She is the co-founder of Sunday Dinner Publishing, an
indie publishing company, and an advocate for DEI in publishing. As a
former teacher, she is now a consultant for educational organizations and
schools. Angela lives in Los Angeles, California.
Alison Hawkins is an award-winning illustrator,
designer, and hand letterer. She illustrated the book The Noisy
Classroom, which won the 2020 American Fiction Awards for Best Cover
Design for Children’s Books, and her work has also been published by American
Greetings, Universal Standard, and Discover Durham. Alison loves to explore
color and approaches art with a sense of humor and whimsy. She lives in Durham,
North Carolina.
