– Victoria shaves her head, wears white, and insists her name is Egg. Just like her favourite character from her favourite movie. Incidentally she seems to believe this makes her original. Egg is a self-chosen outcast, who loves special effects, movies and getting good grades. She dislikes other people, and sees herself superior to the common filth that populates her high school. Which she might be, but does she have to be so annoyingly smug all the time? Then Max transfers to her school, and shows her how wrong she has been about all the things she thought she knew all about. This is a book about insecurity, and being different, and coming of age. I adore it. Egg might be a smug, annoying brat, but that's what teenagers do best. And she's only that way, because she¿s insecure and awkward in her own skin, another teenage trait. And over the course of the story she gets a clue, and is able to really become all those things she thought she were; smart, original and independent. I read this on one sitting, and then whined that it was over. Good times.
