– Et svært viktig aspekt ved forskning, for eksempel innen informasjonsteknologi, er metodene som brukes for å innhente forståelse for konteksten der informasjonsteknologien brukes, eller ønskes brukt. Tradisjonelt har kvantiative metoder vært svært populære, spesielt fordi man har muligheter til å hente inn relativt store mengder data ved spørreundersøkelser, og lage strukturerte mottak for denne informasjonen. De siste årene har kvalitative metoder blitt mer populære. Denne boken er en introduksjon til begynnere, men også en håndbok til erfarne forskere, og den inneholder mange gode tips til hvordan kvalitative undersøkelser som 'åpne' intervju, tape 'recording', videopptak bør brukes.
