Vi får være med både foran og bak kamera og oppleve ikoner som Orson Welles, Marilyn Monroe og Marlon Brando både før, under og etter innspillinger i legendariske filmer fra 50-, 60- og 70-tall. Her er det ekte og falske emosjoner. Boken er litt vilkårlig delt opp i ulike deler, og har på slutten en interessant del med bilder fra klippeprosess og etterproduksjon. Mine største helter som Jean-Luc Godard og Francois Truffaut er med, men jeg kunne ønske meg mindre Marilyn og idylliserende stjerneportretter. Her er det utmerket fotografier på hver eneste side, i en til tider dyrkende og glorifiserende stil, men uansett fascinerende og med få lignende bøker tilgjengelige på markedet.
