– Maus har fått Pulitzerprisen, og ingen som har lest boken kan si at den ikke var fortjent. Dette er en av verdens beste tegneserier.
Maus handler om Art Spiegelsmans fars og mors opplevelser like før og under andre verdenskrig. Fra faren, Vladek, blir kalt inn til å kjempe i Polens front mot Tyskland, til han tilslutt blir sendt til Waszawa konsentrasjonsleir. Det er en sterk fortelling som til tross for sitt alvorlige tema, inneholder humor, vennskap og kjærlighet. Ved å fortelle om enkeltskjebnene til sin familie i ord og bilder, får man ikke bare presentert en rekke historiske fakta, men også en genuin følelse av hvordan det var å leve på den tiden. Art Spiegelman klarer å fange inne det universelle ved menneskeheten, på sitt aller verste men også hvordan det er mulig å ta frem det beste i seg ved krisetider.
