– Etter å ha lest det meste av Palahniuk's forfatterskap med stor interesse, ble denne boka en skuffende opplevelse. Her spiller han videre på den strengen han slo an med forløperen "Lullaby", viser tegn til å bevege seg inn mot horror - genren.
Ikke noe galt i det, "Lullaby" var jo en meget lesverdig opplevelse, men i "Diary" bygger han opp et plott som hviler på alt for usannsynlige premisser til at man går med på det. I tillegg bruker han for lang tid på oppbygningen, så jeg endte opp med å kjede meg flere partier i boka, noe jeg må si jeg ikke har opplevd før når jeg har lest noe av Palahniuk. Jeg håper dypt og inderlig at jeg har feil i mine mistanker om at Palahniuk bare forsøker å melke suksessen sin, og sikter mot å bli en ny Stephen King. Om du er ukjent med Palahniuk, så les heller hans andre bøker som Survivor, Invisible Monsters eller Lullaby, som er intense og underholdende bøker, fremfor denne.

– Chuck Palahniuk er mannen som skrev Fight club. han står også bak en rekke andre bøker som alle har det fellestrekket at de har høyst bisarre og skrudde handlinger. Så også denne boken. Den starter opp med en kvinne som holder på å kveles av sorg og sinne. Etter hvert utvikler historien seg i en mer og mer uhyggelig retning. Vi får problemer med å skille mellom fantasi og virkelighet, noe som gjør historien enda mer uhyggelig.
Dette er virkelig en original og spennende bok som samtidig byr på litterære utfordringer. den er skrevet på Palahniuks helt spesielle måte, dder han kombinerer tanker med rene beskrivelser. Jeg anbefaler boken varmt til deg som er ute etter noe litt utenom det vanlige.
