– The plot and writing of this novel is complex, beautiful and entertaining, and I will attempt to break down the plot of the book as easy as I can manage it! This story centres around a girl, Agnes Grey. Due to unexplained circumstances her parents lose all their money and poor and frightened Agnes is now forced on to the poverty line. When enough is enough she searches for a job and sets her heart on the job of governess. She is rewarded this post but is shocked by her reception and how she is treated much more like a slave than an employee. Then, as in most classic novels of this time, love strikes, and from there the atmosphere of the novel becomes a bit lighter and more romantic, yet also at that more dramatic! "Agnes Grey" by Anne Brontë is one of those novels that has a classic stamp to it, if you enjoy classic and historical litterature, you will enjoy reading the story of Agnes Grey!
