«This book presents a rich introduction to the New Testament, with a careful historical analysis and an exploration of its reception in different communities throughout human history. It orients readers to major scholarly debates, from the earliest centuries to the present moment, and helps them consider the real-world implications of New Testament texts today. It also invites readers to appreciate the impact of this literature through the history of art, to recognize the ways our world is populated by images, illustrated texts, and objects inspired by the New Testament. This is a careful, substantive, and vibrant resource that will add depth for anyone studying the New Testament.»

«This is a vibrant and readable collection of studies largely by fresh voices in in the field. It provides creative, insightful explorations about how the New Testament has been interpreted by different readers over time, globally and locally. The studies reach out beyond academia to show the impact of the Bible on people past and present, and are an ideal introduction to studying the books themselves.»
