Denne boka passer veldig godt for amatører og lyd-studenter, fordi den forklarer i enkle ord og omfatter mange interessante temaer.Boken blir artig ved at forfatteren bruker eksempler fra kjente filmer. Forfatteren er lydtekniker selv og har bl.a lagt lyd på mange av George Lucas' filmer, og utviklet THX-standarden til kino- og hjemmebruk.
