There are ten indigenous poets from Mexico and one from Sápmi, Sámiland from the Arctic. Each one’s poems are published in her / his own native language (Sa’an Savi, Batsí k’op, Jñatrjo, Tu’un Sávi, Mè’phàà, Didxazá, LakTy’añ, Mazahua, Zoque, Tsotsil, Northern Sámi) and translated into Spanish, English and Northern Sámi.
Anthologies are edited by Sámi poet, writer and translator Inger-Mari Aikio (Ima) and Mexican poet, editor and visual artist Luis Enrike Moscoso.
The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the period between 2022 and 2032 as the International Decade of Indigenous Languages, to draw global attention on the critical situation of many indigenous languages. Anthology series is Aikio’s and Moscoso’s way to promote indigenous languages and show the richness of their cultures and world views.
