This is the story of the modern touring caravan in the UK, from its origins in the 1919, and how it became a rich man’s pastime through the 1920s, to how it found its way to the middle classes by the 1930s. Post-war, there was a manufacturing boom, and caravan usage surged, sites progressed, and caravan clubs flourished. There was even a short-lived British caravan road rallying event, where many caravans ended up smashed to pieces! Also including a look at accessories and add-ons, from tow bars to awnings, and featuring many memories from caravanners looking back over many joyful holidays, this heavily illustrated book is a nostalgic treat for the touring caravan community.
