– "Stately Pursuits" handler om Hetty Longden, som etter et forferdelig kjærlighetsbrudd blir overtalt av sin sjefete mor til å passe på godset til en fjern slektning mens han er på sykehus. Huset er i dårlig stand, men Hetty og den hyggelige befolkningen bestemmer seg for å gjøre alt de kan for å pusse opp huset, og hindre arvingen i å gjøre stedet om til en fornøyelsespark. Vil de greie det, eller vil arvingen ødelegge det fantastiske huset, og dermed utslette 900 års historie? Dette er en veldig søt bok. Historien er litt forutsigbar, men personene er søte og hyggelige. Det er virkelig engelsk landsbyidyll det er snakk om. Likevel, selv om forfatteren her har skrevet en veldig koselig bok, savner jeg litt ryggrad i hovedpersonen. I boka står det at hovedpersonen Hetty har "feministiske tendenser", men det er ikke spor av det verken i personligheten eller handlingene hennes. Ser du bort fra dette, er det en veldig fin bok som passer for solfylte dager på stranda, og boka anbefales hvis du trenger litt lett lesning.
